IPL 2021: In-depth Analysis of Delhi Capitals (DC)

* Shreyas Iyer is Injured and will not be a part of this IPL 2021, Replacement is yet to be announced

Strengths:

1. Bowling Line-Up: Delhi has the best bowling line-up among all 8 Franchises. 

yeah, they have a better bowling line-up than Mumbai Indians also. Last time Delhi lost against MI, not because of their bowling but because of their poor batting. 

With the likes of Rabada, Nortje, Ishant, Ashwin, Umesh, Woakes, Stoinis, Axar, and Amit they have all the boxes tick in their bowling Department, As of now it is looking Rabada-Nortje will start with Ashwin and Axar and one between Amit Mishra and Ishant Sharma will play with respect to the pitch, They also have some overs of Marcus Stoinis too, don't forget last year he defended 1 run from 3 balls, They also have the option of Chris Woakes as a backup of Rabad-Nortje and in terms of Indian Backup, they have Umesh Yadav, Now you just examine the quality of their bowling line-up, that their backup options are also the first-choice players for their respective countries. 

This bowling line-up has the ability to even defend 120 runs also, I must say that this season also DC is going to qualify for playoffs and one of the main reasons for it will be their bowling.

2. Threatening Batting Lineup: I mean just look at their Batting Lineup- Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Rishab Pant, Ajinkya Rahane, Steven Smith, Sam Billings, Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, and don't forget they have good Indian backup's in form of Lalit Yadav and Vishnu Vinod, And Axar and Ashwin too can bat, it's really threatening for the other 7 teams in the tournament, and it's after the exclusion of Their one of the main batsman Shreyas Iyer.

On their day this batting lineup is capable of making 250 runs also, They just had to be a little careful in the middle overs by not losing wickets at regular intervals, and for this purpose this year they can play one Among Ajinkya Rahane and Steve Smith to act as a glue in this Aggressive batting lineup. 

Their all boxes are ticked in their batting department too, they just have to decide between who will play among Hetmyer, Billings, and Steve Smith, it's tough because all three of them are Match winners.

Experience: Surprised, to see experience mentioned as a strength here, but guess what they have players like Rahane, Ashwin, Smith who are the former captains in IPL, and they have Ricky Ponting as their Coach, Just Imagine the god level strategies which these 4 clever minds are going to make along with young Rishab Pant.

1.Unavailability of Shreyas Iyer: According to me Delhi has only one weakness in this season, and that is the unavailability of Shreyas Iyer, Delhi might not miss Shreyas Iyer the captain very much but they are surely going to miss Shreyas Iyer the Batsman.

His unavailability has created a vacuum in the playing XI, If they start with Rahane in playing XI For Iyer, then they can play Billings or Hetmyer at 5, but if Rahane doesn't perform then they will be in deep trouble because they don't have any other reputed Indian replacement, and if they go with Steve Smith at 3 then they can't play Hetmyer or Billings at No 5, or if they want to play Hetmyer or Billings at No 5 along with Steve Smith at No 3, then they have to break their strength that is Duo of Rabada and Nortje, by replacing one with Umesh Yadav, but this seems unrealistic, All this mess has created just because of unavailability of Shreyas Iyer the batsman.

The Future captain of Team India, The center of attraction of the current international cricket -Rishab Pant will going to be the spinal cord of this team, This time he is not only the batsman but he is the Captain also, It will be interesting to see how he leads, but in kind of form he is now, I won't be surprised if he wins DC their maiden IPL title.

2. Marcus Stoinis:

He was The MVP for DC last year, Scored Tons of Runs with the Bat coming down the order, showed that he can Open too, Took wickets in the crucial moments of the match, was being able to defend 1 run in the last 3 balls of the match, Overall he was the reason of Success for DC last year, And this year also the success of DC will be equivalent to his success as an allrounder

3. Kagiso Rabada: 

Purple cap winner of last year, This South African fast bowler can turn the match with his pace, In my book, he is more useful and better in IPL, than Jasprit Burah and Jofra Archer, He can take wickets at any time in Power-Play, in Middle Overs and in Death overs too, So if this year DC wants to accomplish their dream of lifting their maiden IPL cup, then Rabada has to make Kabada of the batsman's of other teams.

Tournament Prediction:

Their Team looks very strong in papers in this season too, They got power-packed Batting, an Excellent Bowling Lineup, All they have to see is their weakness (mentioned above), and if they want to overcome their weakness then Ajinkya Rahane needs to fire this season, And if he starts getting runs, then you will see this team playing finals once again, but if he can't then it's going to be very tough for them to overcome from it, don't forget they don't have the replacement of Prithvi Shaw too this season if Rahane plays at 3. 

Along with this, one area which they also need to address is their consistency, they start very well but in the middle of the tournament they lose momentum, This season they have to make sure that it doesn't repeat, if they start well then they can't lose their winning momentum.

This season Rishab Pant will lead this franchise, And right now in the kind of form he is I can say that the luck is with him, And if he able continues his batting form in IPL too, then I can surely say they will not only qualify for playoffs but they will play Finals too, Sometimes the stars of a player helps the team too, And this season I'm seeing this happening with Rishab Pant as this coming decade is completely his now.

Exceptional Batting Lineup:  No doubt that this team is the most successful team in IPL, I mean just look at their batting lineup - Rohit Sharma, Quinton de cock, Surya Kumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, and Krunal Pandya and forget not they have Chris Lynn as a backup. This Power-Packed batting lineup can destroy any bowling attack in the world. Each and every player in this batting lineup is a capped player for his respective country, Every batsman in this batting lineup is capable of Increasing the scoring rate at any moment.

2. Fast Bowlers:  Not just in Batting Department but this team enjoys luxury in the Fast Bowling department too, They got Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Adam Milne, Nathan Coulter Nile and if they need an Indian fast bowler along with Bumrah in Playing 11, Then they have Dhawal Kulkarni also, He is also a reputed Fast Bowler in Indian Domestic Circuit, But The Best Part is They have so many International Fast-Bowling Allrounders like Hardik, Pollard, Jimmy Neesham, The quality of fast bowling which they bring to the table is better than the quality many main bowlers of other IPL Teams.

And in these pitches they will surely miss a quality spinner, In my opinion, they could have bought Mujeeb ur Rehman in the Auction for this reason.

The showman of this team Hardik-Kung fu-Pandya, This season he is going to play an important role because now he is ready to bowl also, unlike of last season where he contributed with the bat only, His Cutters will play an important role in the slow pitches of chennai and Delhi.

3. Rahul Chahar: 

You guys must be surprised to see his name in the key players section, You must be expecting Bumrah or Pollard, but wait now and listen- This season MI will play literally more than half of their leauge season in the slow pitches of chennai and delhi, and if you need to win there than you must have a wicket taking spinner in your playing XI, So if MI want's to qualify for playoffs in this season also then Rahul Chahar will have a very important role to play with the bowl in his hand.

This is IPL 2021, And you know that MI has a very special relation with ODD Season's, But They won last year also which was an even season, And If you go through their last year performance you will find they won because of their Exceptiopnal overall performance, where Bowlers were picking wickets and Batsman's were making Tons of runs, But Last year's was their best season in terms of performance in league stages, Because MI has an history of loosing many matches in starting phase of the tournament, Last year their bowler Trent Boult done exceptionally good in powerplay overs but you must keep in mind leaving last year IPL , he had always been an average player in IPL. So it will be interesting to see will he be able to continue his last year performance in this season also, And fdon't forget that they will not play any of their matches in wankhade in this season , They had to play their 9 matches in Slow pitches of Chennai and Delhi and They lack a quality spinner in their playing XI, If Rahul chahar does well then you will see them in finals for sure but if he can't then MI will surely face a little bit challenge to qualify for playoffs, But i belive the kind of batting lineup they have they will surely go in playoffs.

IPL 2021: In-depth Analysis of Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

                                      STRENGTH's:-

1. Multiple Allrounders:  Like every year This season also CSK has a bunch of Allrounders in their squad - Sam Curran, DJ Bravo, Shardul Thakur, Ravindra Jadeja, Moeen Ali, Krishnappa Gowtham, Mitchel Santner, etc... we know that MSD likes to have so many allrounders in the team and nobody can use them better than MSD, having so many allrounders will provide so many bowling options, so if any bowler is having a bad day then CSK need not to worry about that, they can play different-different allrounders according to the pitches like they can add Krishnappa Gowtham or Moeen Ali in the playing 11 in spinning track's, they also have an option of adding Santner too, in seaming pitches CSK can play both Sam and Bravo together, not just it will help in bowling but it will add depth in batting also, Sam and Shardul can be used as a floater to up the run rate at any moment of the match, Sam can also be used as an opener too utilize Powe-play overs, They also have R.Jadeja who can bat like a top-order batsman and bowl like a proper spinner, Now it's up to MSD how to utilize these Multiple Allrounders in the squad completely, And we all Know MSD is master in utilizing his players completely.

2.Spinners:  Like Allrounders CSK also have a bunch of good spinners also with them, They have different-different kinds of spinners like Imran Tahir and Karan Sharma can bowl leg-spin,  Jadeja, Santner and R Sai Kishore can bowl Left arm-spin, And Gowtham and Moeen Ali will be there to provide off-spin, This shows CSK has the luxury to prepare a different-different combination of spinners for different teams, for example, if a team has so many left-handers they can play Gowtham and Moeen Ali together, They can also use R sai Kishore as a surprise weapon, he is coming from some superb performance in Syed-Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

                                    WEAKNESSES:-

1. Lack of International Cricket:   Despite having some young guns, CSK still has their maximum players of above 30 age, and that's not the problem, the problem is lack of international cricket, Dhoni, Raina now plays in IPL only, Bravo also coming from a long break, Same with D Chahar, he was there with Indian Team but doesn't get a match, Jadeja also coming from an Injury break, Du-Plessis To have taken the retirement from Test Cricket, Tahir is also not active in Cricket nowadays,

so you see there are lot of players who are coming after a long break and IPl is a highly competitive league and lack of Cricket will cause CSK a lot because they have to face bowlers like Rabada, Nortje, Bumrah, Jofra, Bhuvi, etc....

2. Lack of Fire Power: CSK has a lack of firepower down the order this season also, Today's Dhoni can't make 15 balls 40, They lack a batsman like Maxwell, Russel, Hardik who can up the run rate down the order, Jadeja and Sam are there to solve the problem at some extent but still they can't solve it fully, They tried to buy Maxwell in this auction for the same reason but unfortunately RCB took him.

                              Tournament Prediction:

Unlike last year CSK will be a little bit Relaxed this season by the return of Suresh Raina in the squad, And They also bought Uthappa, Gowtham, and Moeen Ali this season. Firstly it will be interesting to see who will open for CSK this time, my prediction is Gaikwad and Du Plessis, but MSD can surprise us by sending Moeen or Sam in place of Du Plessis, Irrespective of who open's, it will be important for them to get the good start from openers at good strike rate, because they lack firepower in the end, and don't forget they will play most of their matches in small grounds this time like Wankhade, so their Spin and win formula maybe become in-effective this time. But if their Seam Allrounders like Sam, DJ Bravo, and Shardul does well with both Bat and Ball then only they will have a chance to qualify for Play-offs , Otherwise Their Journey is going to be tough because other teams are really very-very powerful in all 3 departments.

STRENGTH'S:-

1. Openers:   As Virat Kohli had made it clear that he is going to open this time along with Devdutt Padikkal, So we can say now this time they have a stable opening combination unlike last year where Arron Finch looked clueless completely, And we all know that when Virat Opens he has that ability to bat till last and as an opener, he can set the tempo of any chase from starting only, Addition to this he will be able to guide Padikkal to how to build an inning, he lacked this skill last time where he throws his wicket after getting good start's, so I'm excited to see this opening combination how it works, cause on papers it is looking superb. And Addition to this they have a backup of Fin Allen who is a good attacking opener from NZ, and we have seen what he can do in the match against Bangladesh

2.AB de Villiers:  Yes, what you are seeing is right ABD is mentioned as one of the strengths of this side, from past several years he is the one who is fighting for this team single handily, some people will disagree with me by saying Virat to contribute, but the truth is leaving the season of 2016, ABD is the one who carried the batting of this team lonely on his shoulders, 2016 qualifier match of RCB vs SRH is the proof of this statement, if we make a percentage chart of RCB's batting contribution then ABD will occupy 65% of it, If RCB wants to qualify for this season then ABD will have to continue his legacy of Leading RCB's Batting Lineup

3. Spin Attack:  like every year, their bowling is still mainly dependent on their spinners, They seriously have a bunch of good spinners of different-different skill sets, like Washington Sundar can bowl well in Power-Play, Yuzi Chahal has done P.hd in taking crucial wickets at crucial moments of the match, they also have Adam Zampa who have a reputed name in international circuit in the spin department, in addition to this they got one more talented spinner Shahbaz Ahmed, yeah we have seen what he can do with a bowl in the match against RR last year. And Forgot not they have Maxwell too, who can be handy with his off-spin in middle overs.

Weaknesses:- 

1. Fast Bowlers:  If we look into their fast bowling department they got Navdeep Saini, MD. Siraz, Harshal Patel, Daniel Sams, Kane Richardson, Kyle Jemison, and Daniel Christian. Among them, 2 between Navdeep, Siraz, and Harshal will start, the problem is Siraz and Saini are more suited to Test-Matches because of their line and length and Harshal lacks experience. And if we see their foreign slots then they will be relaxed a little bit cause they have Christian and Richardson who are good in slow pitches and RCB will play their maximum matches in slow pitches of Chennai and Delhi, but still, they can only play 1 of them because Kyle Jemison will start sure slot because of his high price and batting skills, This makes their Fast bowling Department little weak overall, and the main reason of it is that they have let go Chris Morris in Auction

2. Middle Order:  Despite having ABD their middle-order looks weak this season too, if Virat opens and ABD at 3 then they will play Maxwell and Azharuddin at 4 and 5, and one among Kyle Jemison and Daniel Christain at 6 and Sundar at 7, Now if you analyze this you will find out a lot of problems, first Maxwell can't be trusted, he can win you 2 out 14 matches only or else if he has a season like 2014 then RCB will surely go in Finals, Second Lack of Experience because MD Azharuddin who will most probably play in the middle order is yet to play his first match in IPL and not only this he is an opener in domestic cricket, it will be completely different for him to adapt in middle-order, And Jemison and Christian are yet to be proved in IPL And Washington Sundar is also more suited in Top-order not in No 7, He lacks to provide FirePower in end, Overall Their Middle-Order lacks Experience and some Fire-Power in the end.

 3. Glen Maxwell: He will be the most important player if RCB has to win this year, Not only with the bat he can provide some overs with the bowl also , He can be the MVP of this team 

            

Tournament Prediction 

Ok, If we go through their team we will see a lot of if's and but's like Virat Kohli should bat till last as an opener, Glen Maxwell solves their middle-order problem and provides the firepower which they lack, Yuzvendra Chahal should come out off his bad form and fast bowlers should not concede a lot of runs in death over's,    To be honest, if a Team has a lot of if's and but's, that team doesn't finish in Top 4, but if all the if's become successful then they will not only qualify for play-off's they will reach in Finals also.

If you look they will play most of their matches in slow pitches of Chennai and Delhi, that's where the main problem is because they made the team by keeping the track of Chinnaswamy in mind, they bought Maxwell also by keeping Chinnaswamy's short boundaries in mind, but now it will be tough for him to play in slow pitches. But they have good spinners and by playing Zampa and Chahal together along with Sundar they can still fight if they get help from the rest of the team, Otherwise, it is looking like that they are going to have a tough time ahead

My prediction is that they will finish at 6th Spot,
